Sorry JW... You are thinking but not feeling. Those bastards made their bed... They tried to treat us as second class citizens... While you may be right when it comes to rivalries; travel time etc.. all the good reasons for it... at some point you have to look at your neighbor and tell them to go to heck.... So Jay while we are on the same page about La Tech (probably the minority), obviously the SBC would have to add one addition to the East, if La Tech were to be added to the West, theoretically, who would you want to be added to the East to compensate for that addition, in a perfect/reasonable/attainable world?

I miss our basketball rivalry with the toppers but they wanted no part of us once they left. Screw them and tech. I was always kinda indifferent towards MT

Don’t want Tech and Monroe. It would just have a very southland feel to it. One or the other. I for one would rather see tech rot on the vine and wither away because then they would get exactly what they deserve. What was it the PA guy called them the last time we went there for football the “crown jewel of the university of Louisiana system”. They took shots at us all night and didn’t try to hide it. They need to suffer some because of the elitist attitude they took toward the sunbelt for so many years. Let them play with Sam Houston, Jacksonville st and NMST for at 5 years before giving them any consideration.

Not to mention as I’ve read on here before. If we let Tech in the conference the first thing they’d do is come in and tell us we can’t use the Athetic branding we’ve been using for years because it’s illegal.... blah blah blah. We’ve heard it all before.

As much as I’ve enjoyed watching La Tech get their comeuppance over the past year, Jay is 110% right.

La Tech has been very solid in football, baseball, and basketball for many years now. They’d make the conference better. And they fit with the SBC culture.

But even more importantly, G5 college football with no rivals is like pro wrestling with no heels. La Tech is the mother of all heels. People don’t care when ULM or Texas State come to town. But they care when La Tech does.

And for those who think La Tech won’t go along with our branding, remember that they are the ones begging to get in right now. It wouldn’t be hard to write it into their contract that they have to abide by our naming guidelines.

Maybe long term. I’m with CP on this one you have to make them suffer a while first. After all the years they sh!+ on us and the sunbelt now they need life line and we just throw it out there. O hell no. Let them hit rock bottom first. Make them beg publicly.

You can schedule Tech in any of the sports, but as a conference mate, NOT! They will do everything to screw over UL just as McNeese. It is enough to battle that with Baton Rouge. Nationally, no one cares about a Tech rivalry.

Louisiana tech does not need to be in the same conference as us to be a hated rival!!! Make them prove themselves and then maybe MAYBE give them a look many years down the road. I’m talking football series every year starting in Lafayette and them accepting our preferred branding as Louisiana. If they can’t do that then they can kick rocks!! F em!!
