Can you name one non scholarship athlete that got an NIL deal? I am not familiar with any. I am aware that they are using NIL as bargaining power on top the scholarship offer.

It looks like everybody is lost and there is no bird to be found.

Im not sure that you are correct on this. Ill tell you this much….at 11.7 is split up so many ways that baseball kids RARELY get more than 25-30%. And not every kid gets money. So in the situation that a school is “out of scholarship money” and said player becomes available in the portal that is a cant miss kid and will impact a team immediately…i can see a kid being a “walk on” yet get a NIL deal to cover all the cost of tuition, books, room and board, and meals. Its not gonna happen on all levels of college baseball, but its happening at the top tier of college baseball. Thats a fact. Ill go one step further…there are some instances in college baseball that NIL deals are being “sweetened” for kids to forgo the draft and arrive on campus. The possibilities are endless now with NIL money.

I agree it will happen. But you are wrong there are no cases of NILs going to walk ons at this point.

If any NIL investor has an extra dime to invest, he/she will certainly be using said dime to lure the best possible player, not a walk-on.

You are not a NIL charity case until the money changes hands.

I already quoted you earlier on this.

Walk-ons (the restaurant) has such a hyper focus that it is an extreme outlier, so much so that it has no NIL merit.

Don’t fool yourself, there is plenty NIL going to non-scholarship athletes in baseball and softball
