I am pretty sure one of our men's walk on basketball players, has an nil with a local eatery.

edit: by walk on, I mean non-scholarship
Carter Domingue had something for sure.

How are we going to judge/analyze NIl by what is going on here?
Agree. Why would a walk on get a deal. Sounds like some inside family kind of thing to me. Unless it is the business model of walk ons to give NILs to walk ons only. That might p____ some of the starters off. Might not be good for locker room chemistry.

I thought he was a scholarship guy for sure? I could be wrong. But you want to talk about a good way to destroy chemistry in a basketball locker room. Lets give the white kid from the "rich white school" that doesn't play and NIL. While the starting 5 and leading scorers are getting nothing. You think that goes unnoticed. I can see the animosity brewing from here.

There’s no animosity. Carters teammates love him.

The school does not decide who gets an NIL deal the athlete can get his own. By going out and finding someone to pay him or her.

I know one that was not happy at all on Akwuba's NIL deal and requested a similar one. I don't know the details of Carter's NIL, but Akwuba's was said to be around $10K.

Maybe so. I general start throwing money at guys on the bench that guys on the floor don't get and see how long that last.

Hey, if you are desirable to a company and believe you are worth it, go get you some. Otherwise, shut up and play.

My thoughts exactly. If a guy on the bench is getting paid it is obviously not for PLAY. And that is where you will get the friction amongst 18-21 year olds.

Those selling the NIL as equality for the athlete's knew very well there would be no such thing for athletes that were not in the high profile sports, or professional prospects. This was and is about buying athletes mostly for college football and basketball programs.

And it now allows locals with extra money to do right for special athletes that they have a personal interest in. This part on a much smaller scale.

Well TTU went the equality route. 100 FB players, 25k each.

But you are still correct. When the guys doing all the work gets the same as Larry Last player in, it’s ripe for a great economic lesson to take place.
