If the pollsters base their rankings on incoming freshman classes then they are ignorant. Because from the SEC down to the SLC no more than 2 or 3 true freshman ever make a huge impact in their first year, an average. And at the time the pre season polls come out they have no idea which ones it will be that make the difference making contributions.

Since we're talking about stars and recruiting. Man, did you guys realize we had this many 4 stars that were playing for the Cajuns last year? LoL! Funny how they get that P5 bump, huh?

Bingo. Often the star is based off of who is recruiting you and not necessarily what you do. One could be a 3 star with a few Sunbelt and CUSA offers and then an SEC and ACC offers late and one jumps to a 4 star.

Which is why the star system is so much more valuable to Louisiana than a P5.

I completely don’t understand that statement of how Montrell Johnson who came here as a 3 star recruit and transfers to Florida and becomes a 4 star benefits us? He won’t gain one more yard or score one more point for the Cajuns.

    True.

But…we finished Top 20, yet they beat us by more than the point spread to open the season.

Simple: Our players are better than we give them credit for.

We lament signing a two, at a P5 they would be a 3.

    We lament signing a three, at a P5 they are a 4.

Buying low and selling high is the very definition of value.

If the reality is more valuable than what is on paper it makes the star system much more valuable to Louisiana than a P5.

Once people understand this, more will be tempted to attend.

No. They are all the same players not any better or any worse because of where they are at the current time. They are assigned a Star by some loser that lives in his moms basement and stalks teenage boys to see where they are going to play college ball the next 4 years. Johnson and Bailey are still the same Jonson and bailey as last year no matter what the star geeks think. Stars are for teenage boy stalking losers to sell recruiting magazines.

Stars & # of offers are now NIL $ negotiation tools.

What are we tripping over? Of course they are the same players.

The problem is we tend to undervalue what is right under our nose, making Louisiana a hard sell.

If these "same" players are attractive to P5 schools, the local fan base completely missed the boat.

They are the exact same player, which is why the star system is so much more valuable to Louisiana than a P5

But I’m talking about recruiting stand point. Guys like napier and Desormeaux don’t go look at what rivals and 247s star rating is when recruiting. They rely on their own evaluations at prospect camps. Stars were created by the rival types for the sole purpose of selling magazines / now on line subscriptions. Another words the people who created and designed the star system aren’t really talent evaluators.
