One star to the next is usually a negligible difference in ability.

When you start having a star gap, the difference in ability can be. massive.

No doubt but I don’t think that one star on one player will make a big difference in a pre season coaches poll for an entire teams ranking as the previous poster suggested. They are going to look at o line, skilled guys around that QB and the defense when ranking a team.

We’ve all seen McCall play, the previous poster was saying star rating on the QB would make a difference in a teams ranking before that person has ever started one game.

And if I'm not mistaken, Legendre was a 4 star out of high school. He's now backing up 3 stars.

The preseason poll voters look at current roster and how your recruiting rankings stack up when they vote… so yes it does affect your preseason ranking where you start… hence why the blue bloods always seem to start in the top 25 because of how good their recruiting classes have been… it is a major factor… UL needs every advantage they can get and starting in the top 25 helps.

I want the Cajuna to finish in the top 25. Not worried about where they start. Just win and everything else will take care it's self.

Agreed, but you think Cincinnati would have made the playoff last year if they started outside the top 25…. I’ll answer it for you… NO…. Start in a great position and finish in a better one.

College baseball and college football are two totally different sports when talking about post season play…. Ole miss baseball winning the natty is not even close to a G 5 getting into a 4 team playoff run by the P5…. Try again

Pre season polls are based off of what you did the previous year and the players with experience that you have coming back. Not how many stars a kid battling for a position that hasn’t stepped foot on the field yet has.

Partially…. Recruiting rankings matter in the preseason decision making process on how well you fill your production void.
