Thread: Bill Clark resigns at UAB--Not UL related

  1. Default Bill Clark resigns at UAB--Not UL related

I know this is not directly UL related but one of the best G5 coaches in the country resigned from UAB on Friday. Clark said he was resigning because of health concerns with his back. UAB has promoted QB Coach Bryant Vincent to interim HC on Clark's recommendation. Clark is a great stroy, after 1 season of coaching at Jacksonville State where he went 11-4, he accepted the UAB head coaching job in 2014. He went 6-6 and all of a sudden his program was suspended. Clark had many opportunities to leave and either take a job as a HC at a lower level or even a coordinator at larger school, but decided to stay on board at UAB and 3 years later in 2017 they launched the team again. His career record is 60-30 and 49-26 at UAB with 3 CUSA West championships, 2 overall CUSA championships CUSA Coach of the year in 2017, Eddie Robinson Coach of the year in 2018 and Sporting News Coach of the year 2018.

Good luck to Bill Clark, he seems like one of the really good guys in College athletics.

His back issues must be really hard to deal with. I hope he finds some relief.
