His work load last week was obviously huge. He should be fine with a week's rest, if there are no other physical issues. Lots of pitchers are " pitching around" something physical we never hear about. A long previous outing can complicate recovery and the daily routine preparing for the next outing. That is the only concern.
He will know when he warms up which pitches are not great, good or very filthy. We should know pretty quickly how he is doing.
Man, I'm getting the nervous drizzles already. Got about a quarter-sized pee spot on my pants right now.
