Message Board's Effect on Players. Positive or Negative?

I know a few posters on this page that have never played sports period and I would put up their knowledge of baseball and softball against anyone on this board.

Knowledge of the game is fine. Everyone knows you need to make contact with a runner on 3rd and less than two outs.

People who haven’t been in that situation, especially against Division 1 level pitching, have no idea how difficult it can be.

And it happens over and over on here when a guy in that situation hits a missile, but right at a drawn in infielder…and the few on here that are always the critics will gripe about how so and so didn’t “get it done”. And cant believe how terrible the team is at getting runners home in that situation.

Or a pitcher gives up a hit and “those guys” respond with “he threw it right down the middle!!”. Not to mention these are usually the same people who come unglued when a pitcher walks a guy on a close 3-2 pitch after the batter fouled off 4 pitches with 2 strikes.

Those are just a couple of examples…there are hundreds of others. And “knowledge of the game” has nothing to do with it.

It is an easy fix as a player. Don't read the newspaper, social media, etc and the problem is fixed. As fans some folks think if they support the program then they can say what they want. To each their own.

If you wouldn't say it to a player or coach in face to face conversation, you shouldn't say it on a message board or social media.

My recommendation has been the same for years. Players, coaches, and all of their families should not participate here. Time spent here could be better spent preparing for the next season or opponent. The times an idea offered here which will help in that preparation are virtually non existent. Now if a player wants to thank fans for their support when his playing career is done, that is different. On the other hand, administrators should have fans monitoring the board on a somewhat daily basis. That allows them a feel for what the fan base is thinking and good promotional ideas are suggested at times. I do think fans get a little personal towards coaches at times but that is usually just venting. If that coach does not participate here, he will never know it was posted. It is extremely rare for a player to be attacked personally.

Yep. And this year’s team has is the best batting average since the 2014 team (ranked #1; Super Regional). They also have the most triples since that 2014 team, 3 HRs shy of the 2015 Super Regional team (and only 6 off the 2014 total).
They have the most SBs of any season since at least 2012…by 40!

They have the fewest Ks since the 2016 team that hosted a regional. The best SLG%, OPS and runs per game since the 2014 team.

And the run differential is the best it’s been since the 2015 Super Regional team

And stats are also for losers. Sunbelt is probably a 3 bid league this year and since we are playing such good baseball with a great strength of schedule, we should be a shoe in at-large bid right?

Yes, but they'd have to be screened. If not, you end up with a situation like when O basically said he'd hide the body of the caller.

That's the problem with here everyone is screened and questions have to be approved. no phone calls just live and in person

The above might be the worst criteria ever for a scholarship worthiness.
Assuming of course you are referencing message board criticism. Taking Criticism from coaches is certainly important.
