Just because you run track and have speed doesn't mean you will be a good base runner. Most softball players set up on the outside of the base to get a rocking "momentum" start. Which is better to do versus standing in front of the base.

……stand up, get in a stance, rock back and time the foot off or the bag….and get the extra step or more! In fact I wondered what could be done with a sprinter’s stance with a roll..why not since you aren’t leaving until the ball is out of the pitcher’s hand!
