As the end of season RPI goes this is a very interesting regional.
Clemson has an RPI of 8 with a record of 39-15 and finished with a 14-10 record in the ACC and lost to FSU in the finals of the ACC tournament.
Louisiana has an RPI of 27 with a record of 45-11 and finished with a 23-4 conference record and won the SBC regular season and conference tournament.
Auburn has an RPI of 32 with a record of 39-15 but only 11-13 in the SEC they were 1 and done in the SEC tournament.
UNC-W has an RPI of 110 with a record of 32-13 but only 11-8 in conference they won the CAA tournament.
One thing is for certain…
Neither Louisiana or UNC-W will leave the Regional with more losses than Clemson or Auburn.
Arizona goes from perhaps the last team in to the WCWS. That’s crazy. The PAC 12 really showed out in crunch time and can make up half the field in OKC. Just like the old days.
Texas takes down Arkansas, too.
Florida is the last hope for the SEC to get a team in. It would be crazy to see the committee throw 12 of the 13 SEC teams at the tourney and none make it out of the supers. Somewhat satisfying.
Very satisfying. If Florida fails, as you mentioned, not one SEC team in the world series. I knew it was a down year for the SEC, with no dominant team. But, I didn't know it was this bad. It's time not every SEC team, or every SEC team but one, make it to the tournament.
I hope you’re right, but the committee hasn’t deviated from it’s MO in years with the SEC. A team with a .250 win percentage in conference shouldn’t make it in.
Although, Arizona finished next to last in the PAC 12 so there will always be some “I told you so” teams for the committee to hang their hat on. Still really impressed with them and their run.
