It’s not just that loss. Our opponent’s opponents have not maintained. Which is why it was such a killer to drop games that we have away earlier in the season. Ga Sou was never going to stay at 4 RPI, for example. The ULM giveaway game at home was infinitely more brutal than the loss on Sunday.

Here's a couple of other factors the committee will take into consideration:
1. The Sun Belt is the 5th rated rpi conference. Cajuns are currently 3rd and control their own destiny to finish no worse than 2nd.
2. Cajuns have a winning record (11-10 at the moment) against the 5th strongest non-conference schedule in the country. Rice (2) and Nicholls will certainly weaken that but it should still be a strong non-conference schedule.

Granted, these are likely not major factors, but every little bit helps. And winning cures a lot of ills. Winning all these consecutive games will get much attention from the committee, just like Coastal Carolina is now doing.

You have to take into account that it’s not a poll with us moving up and down spots. It’s about our formulaic value. We may not have actually lost that many points in our part of the formula, but those beneath probably gained ground and our opponent’s record was weakened
