Some of the comments are prime examples of why many people are leaving this board. Everything turns into a p—ing match if someone has a different opinion.
Themus used your opinion as motivation. Turned out well. I do think your opinion back then was based on only partial data. You ignored his accomplishment at Dodge JC where he led his team to the Elite Eight of a high JUCO division. You only considered his year at SC State where he was considered when of the top freshman in their conference. You based your opinion of a player on how the team did. He may have had little talent around him. You also ignored his HS accomplishments in HS which were pretty significant. The reason he was not recruited by better known programs is due to the fact he was not active in AAU ball. Having said all that, I figured he would challenge for playing time but was not certain he would beat out Michael Thomas. We have no clue how well players will perform when they are recruited. For example, I thought Jalen Johnson would be a nice contributor after transferring from St. Louis. I missed his defensive issues which were significant. That miss causes me to be cautious on projecting players. We signed 2 guards in the fall. I don't have an inkling of what their abilities are at this point. I need to research it more.

I remember doing a little more research on Fulks last year and the eye popping stat to me from his JUCO season was that he was 11th nationally in assists while also ranking 14th nationally in total scoring. To be able to distribute and score at those levels at the same time he was obviously the key to the offense on a very good JUCO team. Those attributes turned out to transfer well as he returned to D-1 level ball.

As you mentioned the 2 guards that signed in the fall I don’t much about either. Both are 6’4” so probably have the ability to play the 2 or 3. Fields is one of the top ranked players in Mississippi and I think had offers from Mississippi St. and Southern Miss. I’m definitely intrigued by the European kid Nanunnci who I think is Italian but has been playing in Spain.

Didn't a lot of you folks talk down on Fulks all season long?

Fulks steadily improved over the course of the season. He still needs to work on his shot from the field. His FT shooting really improved. Still a little too flat at times, but he had to be over 70% for the year.

…..I think the USA coach said Fulks only made 11 3s all year….ergo double or triple Brown….Guess I can mention one negative and tell me if I am wrong….think Brown doesn’t have really strong hands by not holding on to rebounds and sometimes when doubled….that said, he is no doubt on of the greatest Cajuns I have ever seen here!

I liked his ability to see that JB was doubled and tripled all night and was able to take the game over himself and go elsewhere with the ball. Great job by TF on championship Monday.
