    What a difference 2 games make…

Now projections show the Cajuns finishing 10-3 with all 3 losses to Texas State.

D1 Baseball.com has the Cajuns as a 3 seed in Hattiesburg.

Keep in mind that in typical years, the Cajuns (being one of the last two teams in the field) would not make the field. Stolen bids. Louisiana Tech would not either.

But definitely on the bubble with a chance to play their way in.

Brian can you talk a little bit about what makes this year atypical in terms of regional bids? TY

I'd take that in a second, but there's work to be done.

    A lot of work.

The tournament will be very interesting this year, as seven of the teams have an RPI in the Top 100. That means your bracket will give you opportunities to pick up quality wins.

While Texas State is in pretty good shape, a loss in the series with the Cajuns and 0-2 in the tournament could put them in jeopardy.

CCU is putting themselves in position to make a run as well. The Chants are 1/2 game behind the Cajuns for third place in the league.

Nothing atypical this year. I am simply saying that if this year is not an outlier in terms of the # of stolen bids, the Cajuns would not be in the field of 64 if they were evaluated to be the second to last at-large bid in the field (as they were in this week's projections). When these tournament projections are published, I generally do not consider a team to truly be in the field of 64 if they are one of the last three at-large bids. Sometimes it is more ... sometimes less. We will not know how many are stolen until after the conference tournaments.

I think we would play anyone they let us play. Teams in our position have no liberty to be choosers.

I would love to get another crack at them. Just like we beat an incoming member in the bowl game it would be nice to welcome usm to the sun belt by ending their season. We should have taken 2 of 3 from them earlier this year
