And that is why the league should step in to promote the league and not these lesser conference mid weeks and pre conference series. Except for Wake of course in that case you have a greater conference visiting on a week night. Maybe East Tennesse State draws more interest on Tuesday than a top tier sun belt team coming in on a weekend for them? It would be equivalent to Stephen F Austin coming here and gaining more interest than Coastal Carolina, So Al, Tx State, or Ga So. I don't get that argument.
I went to a baseball series at App State a few years ago. It's a very nice little stadium in a BEAUTIFUL setting, but there were probably more dogs than people at the park (not that there is anything wrong with that) and NOBODY around Boone even knew there were baseball games being played there that weekend. They just don't care.
I have to disagree. It is absolutely our business and the rest of the conferences business as well. When you have been able to watch all conference road series and then one conference foe does their best impression of LSUS, LSUA, Delta St, Arkansas Tech, or Ark Monticello it is the rest of the conferences business as to why they are not keeping up and investing in promoting the sport.
Or when you have programs like Louisiana, So Al, Ga So, Tx St, CCU, and So Miss in the future scratching and clawing and fighting for RPI and an at large bid and Doug Gillin cares nothing about the sport and the conference RPI. It becomes all of our business.
I do not watch for free. I watch games on a pay per month streaming network. I agree if we want to be a top G5 conference in all aspects we need some at the bottom to stop acting like D2 schools when it comes to how they treat baseball. When an AD pounds his chest and says I met my minimum requirements for baseball, that in the big picture for the conference is a problem. It’s time for the bottom to start acting like the top in the sunbelt baseball conference, if we are to advance as a league in perception.
