Does UNO pay for full cost of attendance like we do? Do they have a $1.5 million (or whatever it is) nutrition budget?
All I know is that our athletic department has run a deficit for the past few years so I can understand them not spending money they don’t have on streaming more games.
Did you ever consider the fact that the reason they are now streaming the remainder of the games is because every weekend someone starts a new post to voice their concerns? If we wouldn’t voice our concerns as fans the administration wouldn’t hear our concerns and that is how apathy sets in. JMO.
I was not there either. My teenage daughters would have liked to have been there, but only tickets available at the time were for 300 bucks. This was a day or 2 after they went on sale. I could not imagine paying 300 bucks for a ticket then waiting an hour and a half for a beer that probably cost around 15 bucks. One would have to be a fool to do so.
I don't know whether there is anything contractually or not. Arkansas State used separate announcers, Matt Stolz on radio and Brad Bobo on TV. The only one who did a simulcast is Troy.
I'm not a big fan of simulcasts simply because there's a huge difference (to me, anyway) between radio play by play and television play by play. But that's just an opinion based on my experience and might not be noticed by fans.
Well, I can say the thread you started was after the decision was made and changed on the website. LOL
And, while I do believe there's value in expressing concerns on this board, I also believe those in charge pay more attention to those who email them directly.
The requirement isn't an ESPN thing. It's a Sun Belt Thing.
The requirements are: Football, Men's Basketball, Women's basketball: All. Baseball: 9 Those are the only requirements.
Now, that is going to look wayyyy out of sorts for most of you. But not every fan base is like ours and not every administration is like ours.
Let me speak specifically about baseball.
App State doesn't do radio. And, as you can see, they don't do much tv either. Georgia State doesn't do radio and this is the first year they've done any baseball streaming for ESPN+. UTA doesn't do radio. Little Rock doesn't, either. And, none of the schools mentioned stream all of their games. The only two schools that had all of their home games streamed on ESPN+ were Coastal and Georgia Southern.
Baseball just isn't the priority around the league like it is here. I think it sucks as a baseball guy. But for them, the juice isn't worth the squeeze in that they have no fan base to speak of and therefore believe it isn't worth the cost.
Hope this answered the contract question.
And, while I'm sure you guys feel better about contacting the AD at App, I'm not sure spending the money to appease Cajun fans is on his agenda.
