UL Baseball Hands part of the bat? Yes or No

Are your hands part of the bat? I will let you guys know the answer after we get some folks posting. This has always been a 50/50 debate at ballparks everywhere. Do not use Google and cheat like others who don't really know the answer. Fire away this topic should be very interesting.

Yes or No and give your reason?

    I say nope.
Would be very rare for ball to not hit either the hand or the bat first.

Ump has to decide which. And if during a swing it is a moot point, since swing takes precedence. As a hit by pitch during a swing is still a strike.

If its deemed a swing, yes.

If not, no, its a hit by pitch.

I say no, you swing with your arms not your hands.

Hands are not part of the bat. If the hands are struck in the strike zone, it’s a strike and a dead ball. It is no different than hitting any other part of the body in the strike zone. If the hands are struck outside the strike zone, the batter takes his base as a HBP and it is also a dead ball. It’s the same as if any other part of the body is struck outside of the strike zone.

If your hands are swinging, then it is a strike. If you are not swinging the bat, then it is a ball. I came across this recently on one of the broadcasts.

No and the strike zone controls the call. Hit hands in the strike zone, a strike. Hit hands out the strike zone, the batter takes his base. In each instance, once a ball strikes the player, it is a dead ball.
