This road trip will make or break our season. With games against SLU [84 RPI], three against USA [69], two against Illinois [34], Indiana [57], St. Louis [139] and three against App State [150], our young players will be challenged in ways that they have not faced before. I believe that we are better than all these teams; but the grind of a long road trip may have negative effects on us. If we sweep this road trip, I believe our RPI will move to the high 20's, or possibly better. Our remaining games against Houston [80], Coastal x 3 [153] and at ULM x 3 [134] are at worst RPI neutral if we take care of business.
A little additional information: We are 10-2 vs RPI of 26-100 and 15-2 vs RPI of 101+. Our remaining opponents have these records vs RPI 26-50:
SLU: 1-1
USA: 1-4
STL: 0-2
ILL: 8-5
IND: 1-4
ApSt: 0-0
HOU: 0-0
CCU: 0-0
ULM: 0-0
We should be favored in every game except the 3 Big 10 games, and I fully expect us to sweep all the non Big 10 opponents and go no worse than 1-2 in those three.
Any idea if tonight's game will be played?
My radar shows Hammond is missing most of the weather. It is anyone's guess.
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team's scheduled game at Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, April 12 has been canceled due to inclement weather in the Hammond area.
A shame. Assuming a Cajun win, that was a game that would have helped both teams.
