How is Brandon getting the PT over Willis? Brandon does not look comfortable at the plate.
For all that batting average is, Brandon has as many RBI as Tyler Robertson.
And, Chipper had three terrible outings early which is why that ERA is so high. He's pitched well lately, overall.
And, while the call was horrible, it just underlines why the coaches in this league screwed up by allowing just three umpires.
Yesterday's ASU pitcher was anything but mediocre. He, like Chipper, had a couple of bad outings. But he's a veteran pitcher who pitched like a veteran yesterday.
I don't know if anyone told some of you....but the other guys get to play, too.
Something that we tend to overlook but really showed up yesterday.....
Arkansas State was charged with five errors yesterday. Two were throws into center field on steal attempts. One was an errant pickoff trying to keep from giving up a big lead at first base. The other two were throwing errors on the infield when fielders rushed their throws.
Our team speed is really causing havoc. And, if you look back, it's happened most of the year and really rearing its head now that Marusak is back in the lineup.
Seems like I remember that in the days of Robicheaux, Simoneaux & Babineaux.
He’s had more than a COUPLE bad outings. He’s got 10 outings on the season. 40% of his starts he’s had a game ERA over 11. 50% of his outings have a game ERA of 6.75 or higher.
Very right about stAte though. They get to play too. They’ve played close games against Ga So, TX State, and Coastal. Was nice to see us get a hard fought win last night. Need this sweep today.
Menard has 15 appearances allowing earned runs in 5, but allowed earned runs in just 3 of the last 13 appearances. His first two appearances in Feb. account for 5 of his nine earned runs. Since Feb. 22 he allowed 4 ER in 12.8 IP. His ERA is 2.81 with a respectable 1.33 WHIP since then. He is more often effective than not. When he is not good, coaches appropriately have a quick hook.
Agreed. His outings are not pretty for whatever reason. He seems to get behind the count and relies on defense more than K's (10.91 per 9 IP). I think his stuff is better than he thinks and he nibbles a bit. His velocity is up and that can take time to get comfortable with. I think Top said he is low 90's. I'm becoming a fan.
Relying on defense was a dicey way to pitch until recently. Through 31 games we have 33 errors, 11 (down 25%) less than last year. We have the 3rd best fielding % in the league, compared to 9th last year.
