So if I was the player for example, and I qualified for the redshirt, do I get it automatically, or does the coach have to give it to me. And would there ever be a circumstance that they could choose not to. Lets say 11 qualify, would NCAA limit the coach to ten redshirts in one year (or some # for example) Or if a coach knows I am transferring could they hold back my redshirt approval?

Short answer if you haven't played a lick then you are considered a redshirt player period. If they choose not to redshirt you then that means you actually played. I am not sure if there is a limit? Maybe Cajunsoftball22 would know that answer?
