Let's say this weekend, with Olivia Lackey in the circle for South Alabama, the game is tied in the seventh inning. The Cajuns are at bat. There is a runner on third with two outs. Who do you want at the plate? Stormy, Maddie or Kayla?
With runners in scoring position and two outs.
Maddie .389 BA, .421 OB%, .500 SLG%, chances 17
Stormy .308 BA, .357 OB%, .615 SLG%, chances 12
Kayla .400 BA, .400 OB%, .800 SLG%, chances 6
With two outs.
Maddie .469 BA, .469 OB%, and .469 SLG%, chances 23
Stormy .417 BA, .417 OB%, and .417 SLG% 15
Kayla .357 BA, .317 OB%, and .357 SLG%, chances 13
Bases loaded
Maddie .400 BA, .333 OB%, .600 SLG%, chances 6
Stormy .000 BA, .125 OB%, .000 SLG%, chances 9
Kayla 1.000 BA, 1.000 OB%, 1.000 SLG%, chances 1
Jourdan Campbell should be in that mix as well.
Maddie has put up those numbers because of her speed and ability to put pressure on opposing defenses. I’m just saying, IMO, Maddie is the best option in the scenario presented by Roarman. With a runner at third and less than 2 outs, give me Stormy and Campbell. In a bunting situation give me Falterman, as she is in the top three bunters available, if not the best.
This was a “can’t go wrong” hypothetical. We look to be that good.
