Here's what the portal looks like re: SBC

App: One player, not of consequence

Ark. St: Norchad Omier (POY, DPOY), Desi Sills (starter), Keyon Wesley (starter) Mario Fantina (didn't play much)

Coastal: Five players, none of consequence

Troy: Duke Deen (SBC Freshman of the year), TK Smith (22 games one start, Jakevian Leftridge (seven starts), Desmond Williams (29 starts, 7 ppg.)

Georgia State: Nelson Philips (sixth man)

Georgia Southern: Elijah McCadden (Sixth man of the year,) Gedi Juozapaitis (part time starter)

Texas State: Caleb Asbury (first team all conference)

South Alabama: Alex Anderson (17 starts)

ULM: Two players of no consequence PLUS Russell Harrison, who started every game. Second leading scorer and leading rebounder.

Jay, is the 2nd transfer rule being enforced? I know it is supposedly waived if a coach is leaving but for instance Desi Sills is now transferring for the 2nd time. Does he have to have a degree in hand and be a grad transfer? I noticed today Josh Leblanc is in the portal and he has already been at Georgetown, LSU, and UAB so this would be a 3rd transfer.

I'd take any and all of them. Finally put some shooters on the wing

Thanks for the info Jay. This leads me to ask the question of why we retain a coach for roster retention when we can expect exactly what you posted? This whole decision and reasons stated for making the decision just don't make sense to me.

He was making up an excuse because he wasn’t allowed to make the decision he wanted.

I’ve noticed people contradicting themselves in this exact scenario.

“We can’t get rid of a coach because player x and y will leave.”

And then when they leave anyway: “Well, we have no control of the portal, so…”

Won't disagree but the excuse was quite poor. He can't verify it on any front.
