Might be an unpopular opinion, but baseball should preempt softball like basketball does baseball. Probably has twice the following.

It absolutely should, and exactly for the reason you gave.

Here's my point: Whether it's radio or TV, you'll be hard pressed to find schools that deal with five sports. (UL was the first to have commercial radio do a complete softball schedule). Yet, despite the efforts, it's never good enough. I think sometimes you need to step back and realize, at the end of the day, you are pretty fortunate. And as stated earlier, you can't put both softball and baseball on tv at the same time.
With all due respect, Jay, you can do both. We did it for UCI when Mens basketball preempted baseball. We brought in an outside crew. I think they were there for all three UCI games. We also had an outside crew for 2/24 softball against Alabama.

We are fortunate, but at the same time, we can do better. We shouldn’t be content with broadcasting some games and not others. We have the equipment and means. This is exposure.

For what it’s worth, I ran the numbers. There are 7 of 10 non-televised baseball games that had no conflict with baseball or basketball. They should have been televised. We have the means, what’s preventing it?

    Softball: 26 home games (17 televised, 9 non-televised). The non-televised:
    1. February 11: UAB (no TV conflict) (1st of DH)
    2. February 11: UAB (no TV conflict) (2nd of DH)
    3. February 12: North Texas (conflict with MBB) (2nd of DH)
    4. February 12: Texas Southern (conflict with MBB) (2nd of DH)
    5. March 9: McNeese (no conflict)
    6. March 11, 2022: Georgia State (conflict with Baseball)
    7. March 12, 2022: Georgia State (conflict with Baseball)
    8. March 13, 2022: Georgia State (conflict with Baseball)
    9. March 26, 2022: UT Arlington (conflict with Baseball)

    Baseball: 28 home games (18 televised, 10 non-televised). The non-televised are:
    1. Feb. 22: Southeastern (no TV conflict)
    2. March 2: Northwestern State (no TV conflict)
    3. March 4: Southern Miss (Conflict with Softball)
    4. March 25: South Alabama (Conflict with Softball)
    5. March 27: South Alabama (Conflict with Softball)
    6. April 3: Georgia Southern (no TV conflict)
    7. April 15: ULM (no TV conflict)
    8. April 16: ULM (no TV conflict)
    9. May 7: UT Arlington (no TV conflict)
    10. May 8: UT Arlington (no TV conflict)

Cost is also a factor (I think it's roughly 10K per game, but I'll check and report back.)

Please do. I’m very interested in that number. Also interested in the breakdown of what the number represents.

I'll try to get the number but I'm not gonna dwell on the details.

The game against southeastern is on ESPN plus. You think they paying $10k per?

Not looking to become a part of an argument here, but I’ve watched a few SLU games this year. They have a Sports Broadcasting degree, so all of their ESPN+ broadcasts are student run. I’m sure that drives their cost down significantly.

ESPN+> Stat cast > twitter> the deer camera they used for softball year ago > radio I rather listen to nails on a chalk board than listen to a game on the radio though .

Just broadcast the game with a couple of IPhone don't even need announcers
