Oh damn that’s weird. He got an at bat as recently as McNeese but is nowhere to be found on our website now.

Actually I forgot he started Troy Sunday.

    Pitching/defensive stats through 3/27:
    Double plays: tied 175
    ERA: 84
    Field %: 171
Hit batters: tied 83 (This is given from most to least, so 83rd most in the country.)
    Hits allowed/9: 76
    Strikeouts to walk ratio: 93
    Strikeouts/9: 52
    WHIP: 91
    Walks allowed/9: 147

    Hitting on the other hand...yikes:
    Walks: 265
    BA: 243
    Doubles: tied 252
    Hit by Pitch: tied 119
    Hits: tied 210
    HRs: 151
    OBP: 269
    Runs/game: tied 240
    Slugging: 198
    Stolen bases: tied 20
    Tripes: tied 8th

Just not getting on base enough to take advantage of our biggest asset (speed). We won't play the 4th best SoS the rest of the way out, so hopefully this improves just by the arms getting a little easier. The offensive output is honestly what concerns me the most with our pitching. High stress innings are gonna stack up, and we are thin to begin with. Need to break some games open and give these guys on the mound a second to breathe.
Those numbers certainly aren’t pretty. It’s actually a little hard to believe they’ve won 11 games looking at that.

I think, with Marusak back, and a few guys looking like they belong now after slow starts (Hood, Veillon, Rincones-hopefully he’s back this weekend) the offense will start to build a little bit of consistency.

I also think the coaching staff is starting to figure out the roles that the better arms fit into.

If they are still slugging along around .500 in a couple weeks my enthusiasm will wane a bit. But as of now, if they can stay healthy, I think we may see them on a nice run. Fingers crossed.

At the very least, we’re in position to make some noise. LFG!!!!!

It would be interesting to see how different the comments about the team and coach would be on here if they were 20-5 this season against the #182 schedule like conference mate Texas St currently is.
Hot take, but we had comments about a team with a weak schedule back in 2014. No one talks about the schedule that year, but it was a terrible schedule that year. Four games against the RPI top 50, 39 against teams ranked outside the top 100.

So yea, we’ve heard about how teams with gaudy records against weak competition before, but we turned a blind eye to it back then.

Belive me, the poll voters took schedule into accoumt when polling Louisiana #1

Doesn't RPI factor in schedule strength and record more or less by default?

It is interesting (to a few) South Alabama went 1-2 here and RPI went from 62 to 50. UL schedule strength at work, I am guessing? Our RPI went from 79 to 59.

Our schedule strength may help us keep climbing, if we do our part.

After losing at Nichols I was not well. Deggs said the conf season is 30 games, not 3. He is correct.

Again, some look at baseball with a football mentality. And, most of the time, that's what causes "debate" on this board.

Personally, I don't find it appealing when someone makes a judgment about a player or game based on the first inning. It would be great if we'd let the game unfold a bit before criticizing. But I know that's not going to happen.

I can confirm Jack Clark is no longer with the program.

It’s not just 3 games in May?

Actually, the last few years it has come down to that. Perhaps not this year. (Four games if you want to be technical.)
