We scored 4 runs on 3 hits. That doesn't happen much.

Schultz’s final line today:
5 1/3 IP 11H 6ER 2BB 3K
The line looks atrocious, but that kid battled hard today. Two of those runs were walked in after he was pulled. The thing that stood out was how hard he fought, despite being severely outmatched. The fact that he’s a Saturday starter for this team is scary stuff in terms of talent. We are pretty far down.
I’m glad someone said this. He struggled early but settled in and did his job. He gave them a chance to win. And then his stat line looks like crap after runs scored against him while he was in the dugout.
Cant ask for much more when a kid who’s been your closer goes out and gives you 100+ pitches and gets you into the 6th in a 1-run game.
Going in to the 6th, he had a chance at only our second quality start of the season. The other of course being Wilson’s CG.
I think you and Big Buds’ conversation comparing pitching staff’s will be very interesting to have at the end of the year. Pitching that’s constantly subject to high stress innings because of lack luster offense tends to wear down as the season goes along. I like the grit we’re playing with this weekend, but this is bordering on trying to get blood from a stone talent wise.
Schultz did an amazing job keeping th lid on an excellent offense. It is not easy to scatter 11 hits. Very few freebies helps.
