Five shutdown innings pitched by Sam Landry and a pair of timely hits from Ari Quiñones led the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team to a 9-1 (6 inn.) win over UT Arlington in Game 1 of a Sun Belt Conference series at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.
The Ragin' Cajuns (18-8, 5-2 Sun Belt) picked up their second straight win by a run-rule margin and moved within one win of extending their streak of consecutive Sun Belt series wins which stood at 66 straight entering the weekend.
Landry handcuffed the visiting Mavericks (11-12, 3-4 Sun Belt) by scattering four hits and striking out eight during the five scoreless innings she worked in the circle.
