Thread: Louisiana Softball Hosts UT Arlington in Sun Belt Series

  1. UL Softball Louisiana Softball Hosts UT Arlington in Sun Belt Series

Following a four-day break from play, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team (17-8, 4-2 Sun Belt) returns to action from Friday-Sunday, March 25-27 hosting UT Arlington (11-11, 3-3 Sun Belt) in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

In looking at the UTA site for the stats on the Oklahoma State game, I found the winning pitcher to be Jessica Adams. Ok. St. lost the game to UTA. Jessica Adams is one of the twins who were here on our team in the fall, 2021. They left and in January ended up at UTA. Jessica is the "ace" of the team. Notice that she only got there in January and is a FRESHMAN. I wonder why we let her leave? Her twin sister, Jacqui, left with her, but I do not find her in the game stats although she is on the roster. Jacqui is a catcher. A catcher! Also on the Roster is Kimber Cortemelia who was on our team when Gerry got here. She left after one year, 2018. I see that in 2019 she was an NJCAA All-American at Blinn Jr. College.
My point is those three will be inspiring their teammates to win every game against us this weekend.

2 of those 3 may not even play this weekend. The board is still curious of the names of the four pitchers that you said the Cajuns had that could throw 72 mph.

The catcher was told that she would not see any action here. So they left and found a place that would take both of them.

I may be misremembering what I heard at the time of the transfers, but my understanding was that, since the pitcher was recovering from an injury, and with experienced pitchers ahead of her, they wanted to redshirt her this season. She didn't want that, so both left. The catcher was definitely going to see playing time after she recovered from her slight injury as she was the more highly rated player.

You may be correct about the redshirt. I just know that Glasco LOVED the pitcher but did not love the catcher once that got here and she was told. They left the next day.

Current players just need more time in Glasco’s system.

Package deal players tend to stick together. If Adams is the winning pitcher in any of these 3 games then that will be an embarrassing moment for UL.

In the podcast I just posted with the UTA coach, she talks about Jessica and Jacquelyn.

Jessica is 7-7 with a 3.21 ERA. Jacquelyn has been to the plate seven times and is yet to get a hit.
