The comment he was making about our losses and many of them came late in the game was one of the worst takes I've heard. It was worse than the false winning percentage claim. Yes, good successful teams find out a way to win those game or most of them, not use the "Well, we were close so we must be pretty good" excuse to reason why you would retain the coach for those failures. This interview disappointed me in so many ways.

Could not possibly agree more. This brings me down to very very little faith in Maggard leading our athletics. That comment was extremely disappointing to me as well. He says what a great coach Marlin has been, but then elaborates on the fact that we lost tons of games at crunch time because we can’t execute or shoot free throws. Well coaches teams don’t lose those games for those reasons lol.

ya'll cant handle the truth so he gave ya'll some B.S. Either way, lots of fans would be upset in what he decided. If I need to state my position, I feel coach marlin is an average coach that has coached for a long time.

My guess is at this point in time, there is more to lose than gain from letting coach go with one year left on his contract, so, one more year it is.

What is the truth we can’t handle?

spend any time listening to the complaints and checked out people with the basketball program, and I have to seriously ask, how much worst can it get? we seem to be in bottom of the barrel situation now, another year wont kill whats already weakened. any excitment/gains from a coaching change can still happen next year, the gamble is with a decent to successful final year, there maybe better momentum and energy next off season.

I think it's possible it works out that way. But what if Brown decides to leave before the season for the G-League? He has played 3 seasons of college basketball and may decide he would rather play in the NBA developmental league. It that actually plays out, then we have a worst case scenario taking place anyway. But a new coach could begin the process of rebuilding the program this season instead of kicking the can down the road for another year.

Now I haven't heard that Brown is actually leaving the program, but my understanding is there is some discussion of that possibility with outside people interested in bringing him into the league.

    Sheesh, would that be something.

One of the defenses I heard for keeping Marlin another year from people was the threat of players transferring if he wasn't retained, the main one being Jordan Brown. How ironic would it be if he still left?
