It should tell everybody something about the guy that's in charge of the athletic department when his old University that he was with for 20 years didn't even give him the time of day. Mark my words everyone, our athletic department may have a decent budget to work with but they do not have decent coaches.

Take a look at the athletic programs since Maggard has been the athletic director; softball wins their conference but they won't host a regional or host a super regional and they can't beat LSU. And now in the current stage the softball team can't beat a ranked team.

The basketball team is worse; players are leaving the program left and right; the baseball team is just as bad as it's been for the last several years and will soon find out about the football program. But it just doesn't look like we're going to have a very bright future in any of our sports.

While the other universities across this country hold people accountable for the number of wins and the attendance that they have at their games and within their program we don't hold anyone accountable and unfortunately it doesn't look like Maggard and his athletic department is going to be held accountable.

There is absolutely zero fun going to watch any of the sporting events that UL has and we're back to the old days
like it was under Authement. If this University and this athletic department want to be big time and I keep hearing day in and day out then they need to start acting, winning, and holding coaches accountable. They're not ready for the big time in any way shape or form!

What a joke our athletic department has become. You can't put all of the financial eggs in the football basket like Maggard has done and expect basketball, baseball and softball along with the other sports to excel.
Post of the year so far. Well stated and FACTS for the most part. The people that wear the rose colored glasses needed to hear this. When someone shows the “reality” of the situation they get accused of having “an axe to grind” or being a “troll” (God forbid). They’ll get over it.

I'm still living in the 13-1 calander year, it has to be part of any valid equation.

I see more corporate money coming in than at any of my time over the past 40 years. That corporate money is helping fund the remodel of an antiquated football stadium driven by the vision of our current leadership in the athletic department. That vision plan was inspired by the input of athletic consultants that were hired to move beyond the vision of our former leadership that built two tractor sheds on the top of the south endzone.

And, I see your post that echos the vestiges of the old regime under Dr. Authement and Coach Blanco. A divided tribal view of sports that still believes spring sports brings more national interest to your brand and money to our foundation.

Football drives the wagon, it took this university 3 decades to figure it out. The MBB program isn't successful because the lack of funding, but because the head coach is not capable of winning consistently, nor raising money. Baseball and Softball are to be determined going forward.

Just for the record, I can't tell you how many times I heard Mike Lotief complain about the lack of funding under our previous athletic director.

And that same person couldn't raise money to build Coach Robicheaux a new stadium, and he wasn't exactly well funded either. Both programs today are funded at a higher level than before under the previous athletic director. All that is possible because of the success of football, not in spite of it.
Thank you. And I forget about the two sheds; so Rustonian.

    Geaux Cajuns!

Recall sometime after Dr. Maggard arrived on the scene being quoted football needed to be fixed first. I interpreted that as football funding, coaching, winning, the stadium. While COVID set things back, especially budgets, progress was made. Now if Coach Marlin is permitted another season, then mediocrity is being rewarded to continue in a major sports program. That will be telling.

Of course you fall for the troll and say “post of the year!”

Imagine saying something is factual, without really providing proof that the budgets have been reduced in comparison to what they were for MBB, Baseball and Softball during regional years and Marlin's 27 win season.

With season ticket sales presumably down the last couple of years and, if Marlin stays another year, I'd assume for a second that sales will be down a bit again, I wonder if the athletic department will run some sort of specials on season ticket bundles or anything like that? Might actually be a good year to buy them again if pricing went down.

It's amazing that you have a few good football seasons and get public notoriety and everybody else can't see through the charade that is going on at UL. Basketball has done nothing in 12 years they went to the NIT once and the NCAA once, baseball has fallen apart, softball is starting to unravel. Just wake up and see what's around you, all of you guys that think football cures everything is sorely mistaken.

Football is next. Are you going to tell me Desormeaux was the best choice to lead the football program?? And those of you that live in the past and can't see what is currently going on around UL is in for a big awakening.

I have donated many thousands of dollars over the years in hopes I would be helping to make a difference, but what I have done is to help enable my university to stay in mediocrity. I'm no longer interested in mediocrity! Neither should any of you!!??
