  1. Track & Field Track and Field: Daigle Sets School Record, Ragin’ Cajuns Top the Podium in Six Events at Louis

After a historic indoor campaign, Louisiana Track and Field distance runner Sophie Daigle picked up right where she left off at the season-opening Louisiana Classics and reset the school record books in the 10k with a time of 32:52.50. The time was over 40 seconds faster than the previous best set by Ashley Irwin in 2015.

Daigle was one of six Louisiana athletes to top the podium in the season-opening meet.

On Friday, the hosts got out to a roaring start as Maria Bienvenu (53.57m pr), Claire Armstrong, (50.56) and Marin Barras (45.61m) swept the women's javelin.

On Saturday, Taylor Davis got the Ragin' Cajuns to the top clearing a new personal best 1.75m in the high jump.

Following the performance, the attention turned to the track where Serenity Rogers (13.56) and Kennedy London (13.69) paced the field in the 100m hurdles.

On the men's side, Yves Chamberlin quickly followed behind and crossed the line first in the 110m hurdles in 13.91.

A few events later, Nathan Ferguson raced to first in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.71.

Louisiana rounded out the meet in front of the home fans with a pair of second-place results in the 4x400m relays. The Ragin' Cajun women posted a time of 3:53.08 while the men's foursome finished in 3:13.92.

The respective relay teams also claimed second in the 4x100m relays earlier in the afternoon. The men's squad posted a time of 40.49 while the women raced to 46.01.

Other notable finishes included second and third place performances by Peyton Chiasson and Damian O'Boyle in the men's steeplechase.

Chandler Mixon took home silver in the men's pole vault as he cleared a new personal best height of 15.16m.

35:52, for Ms. Daigle, which is damn good and should put her in contention hopefully for the SBC Outdoor 10,000m championship.

I had to pull up the official meet results, since article stating "32:52" gave me a WTF moment.
