Tickets Deggs on the Great Scott Show - 3/21/22

I’m sure Scott will post the link later for those who missed, so everyone can be their own judge…but Matt Deggs still sounds confident as hell in THIS team. Y’all can preach rebuild all you want and say we shouldn’t expect to be good until 2047. I’m gonna keep my standards and expectations for the program.

I have no expectations. Makes it a lot less painful when we get kicked square in the ball bag

He was an emotional hire. He came with a good, feel-good story.

I’m sure most will say that. Just coach speak and we should buy in to the long rebuild (2047 is gonna be a monster team) logic. The guy says it’s 100% better to be at a place with expectations than a place without. That’ll be my dumb_____. Not willing to concede that we should just accept sucking until some ambiguous point in the future when enough time has passed.

I'm not lowering expectations and he should not get a free pass until 2047 unless we want Baseball to go the way of Basketball. If its the same 28-30 wins and no postseason after next season he needs to be put on notice.

He went for evening run to decompress from the weekend when he saw a piece of paper being carried away by the wind. He finally caught up to the piece of paper and it was a Cajuns baseball ticket stub.

After picking up the ticket stub he looked up and a car was passing. He noticed the driver was wearing a UL hat.

It was at THAT moment, he knew this was a sign that this team was on the right track and everything would be ok.... **Eye-roll**

Tickets Podcast: Coach Matt Deggs (3-21-22)

Louisiana baseball coach Matt Deggs talks about the series loss at Troy, why he's extremely confident in his team reaching their potential and winning conference this year, where they must improve, coaching his players against the traps of social media, why he loves the UL fanbase, and more.

It would be news if he said anything else. Win or lose there are exciting players to watch on this team.

He didn't, I was poking fun at how when he was hired his stories were always a little too coincidental to me. (I. E. He actually did find a ticket stub while running, and the story of being in church when it was time for the "Peace be with you" hand shakes and he turned around and someone was wearing Cajuns gear in Texas or something like that)

Perhaps I am being too skeptical, but man, this dude's stories around the time hired were wild. Then I remembered that he was also peddling a book and motivational speaking engagements before taking the job here and it sent my skepticism into overdrive.

I at least respect the fact that at the 5:00 mark he says it’s all on him. “When a team with good players and talent levels doesn’t play well, that’s on me.”

Curious, what is everyone’s take on how good Troy is in relation to the rest of our conference schedule?
