It isn't just the big boys investing, although I think that is a major factor. I believe we are also seeing SBC softball getting better (not saying that was hard to do), honestly some years I believe our 2nd nine players could've still won the conference.

We do and should have the expectation of winning the conference, however expecting the domination that we displayed in the past is probably not realistic.

1) your take on Glasco’s performance since taking over the program.
2) the direction the program is headed - are you worried at all?
3) Predictions on what we can accomplish this season?

A little house keeping first. About 6 others on this site are in the same circle as me in regards to UL softball.

1. Coach Glasco in my opinion has done a good job, but I can tell you his team's still haven't reached his expectations. His expectation is a National Championship. His first 5 years he was playing catch up and was behind the 8 ball. Kids used to commit in the 8th grade so for 5 years he had to go the transfer route. He can now start to build his team.

2. This class could be the building foundation towards a National Championship. Fans need to be a little patient as this team is young and more young players are on the way. The freshman are getting seasoned and there will be rough patches along the way, but that is the price you have to pay for future success. Gerry is one of my favorite coaches. I am not worried at all about this program. Keep in mind 5 of the freshman are batting 400 or better and one other over 300 and one right under 300. These kids will keep getting better.

3. If the pitching gets consistent and the cards fall right we can win a regional this year.

The softball staff has 2 out of 3 of my favorite Louisiana coaches. Hoping Glasco and Robichaux have nothing but success going forward.

What is the VERY HARD part is having the right plan to do that, and then executing on that plan. The folks that continue to make the very big money are the folks that can and do execute consistently and at a high level.

I really do like Glasco and his plan, but can he execute on that plan is still a very open question. If the 2020 season had run its course, I think that could've answered a lot of questions for sure.

I agree with some of your points except the second sentence, it’s just plain stupid. Exhibit one, football will NEVER win a nattie, not ever until the system that has been in place for decades suddenly changes and every team who competes has a chance to win. Our coaches may want to win a nattie but come on man.

In football, we should aspire to a New Year's 6 Bowl every year. Every other sport should be aspiring to Natties.
Of course, these goals are not attainable every year, but that should be our goal every single year, and our coaches should be expected to plan, recruit and coach accordingly.
