Agree T. Seth even said point blank that Durke and Menard need to come out and prove it. Durke's situation wasnt begging for a short hook either. He got the first 2 guys easy. When you're stuck on 2 outs its always going to be "just gotta get this next guy." If it's all in his head/confidence, you can't keep just bringing him out for 1 or 2 outs, hoping he gets those guys, and if someone gets on then pull him. That's not helping anyone.

I firmly believe he needs to work through it and make it happen. What happened last year was regrettable, but at some point it either gets ironed out or it can't be used as a crutch any more.

Menard came out and did what he had to on the other hand, but you never know what his next outing will look like.

None of this is to say that I'm sold on the pitching staff, the coaching of those pitchers, the pitching system, etc. I have confidence the hitting will be there at the end of the season to some extent, but I don't have that confidence in pitching. I dont really know how much pure arm talent we have either.

I'm all about giving players a fair opportunities to compete. But at some point you have to take advantage of those opportunities you are given. It's too early to give up on any pitcher at this point of the season, and we can complain about the way some have been handled, but these problems existed last year under the instructions of former major leaguer BJ Ryan. So is someone going to tell me he didn't know what he was doing? Sometimes, it just may be the mental makeup of the athlete.

I stopped for lunch at the one in LC a few weeks ago on my way back from Houston. The Darrell Special is legit. I know we’ve got a lot of great poor boy restaurants in Lafayette, but I would not hate it if Darrell’s wanted a location here. Maybe having it out of town makes it more special, though. The Jack Special at Pop’s downtown is an excellent alternative.

I guess it’s lucky, but talented guy smashed it. Sometimes bad luck follows a great play. Sometimes a seeing eye hit. That’s baseball.

I’m much more concerned with bad pitching than good or bad luck. God’s rain falls on the righteous and evil doers alike.
