What is the opinion with the “bat flip” in the college game ? What i saw in the UT/S. Carolina game was just ridiculous in my opinion

General consensus is if your team does it, it's great. If the other team does it, retaliate.
No one squawked when Shug did it against Houston in the 2015 regional.
If you get offended over a bat flip after you give up a bomb....chances are your mom wants to know what flavor Powerade you want after the inning is over.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not hard to determine whether a bat flip is celebration or taunting and people refuse to admit it.
Bautista in the playoffs was fine, Shug was fine. Southern Miss last year was taunting and this one looks like it as well. He intentionally tossed it toward the pitcher.
And the only action that should need to be taken after taunting is a fastball to the ribs.
....let the players have fun. This is why baseball falls behind the NFL, NBA, and NHL.
The batter is doing his job and should celebrate if he did it well. Become a better pitcher if you don't like it.
I would love to see more bat flips in college and pro baseball. They're professionals, they can handle it.
It is just another example of the 'look at me' society. I don't like it, but for me it is either all or nothing. Either no bat tosses and pitcher celebrations (Theut beating his chest, for example) or ignore it. I am 100% against trying to judge intent, so sometimes it is OK and other times it isn't.
Like the targeting call in football, intent isn't (and shouldn't be) factored in. Now we can debate whether the punishment fits the infraction on that call, but it has become very black or white, versus what it used to be.
I just think you should hit every homer as far as Justin Hemme did. Then there's no need for added emphasis with a bat flip.
Showing up the other team/pitcher is where it crosses the line for me. That automatically calls for a bad miss pitch in ribs.
