What sticks out to me--is the approach on the mound. Look at the years with lowest ERA to this point and the relative k per 9 innings-- In the years with great success on the mound- low era- the #k's is lower and bb per 9 is lower- meaning guys are NOT trying to strike everyone out but pitching to contact. Tho not exclusive-- generally speaking - in my opinion,, we have more guys trying to light up the radar gun and strike people out-- thus no one gets to the 6th inning much less entire game like Wilson did. My hope is that some the guys struggling to get out of an inning - much less an entire game-- without lighting up the radar gun. The object is to get guys out,, not make trac-man light up.
Wilson did a great job.
