Second base umpire wasnt even following the runner to see if he touched it. He was looking in the outfield

Its incredible frustrating to be as inconsistent as we are. One day you think we are about to figure it out and guys are about to get it going. And the next game you lose all momentum and look like a high school team. Today was a perfect example of grabbing ALL the momentum with the double squeeze and stealing home in game 1. We really had a chance to step on their throats early in game 2 and we didnt. And that is why we are an average baseball team. This is not a great baseball team we are playing this weekend. To be honest its a team we could/should sweep if this is a regional team. I think we are further away than we are close to putting it all together. Until we recruit pitchers with some pitchability we will struggle.

We reasonably compare our program to So. Miss, a very successful mid major in SEC land.

So. Miss head coach Scott Berry's team missed four straight regional appearances, starting in his 3rd season.

We are less than a season following the change in recruiting coordinators. His fingerprints are still all over the team. This is just Deggs' second full season.

We may need to be patient here. Regaining a successful posture consistently making regionals may take more time.

It also has to do with backspin on a baseball that you don’t encounter with projectiles like javelins or shot put. 45 degrees is the optimum initial angle without taking wind or spin into account

At the plate? Sure did. Increased his batting average to .152 and doubled his RBIs. To 2.

All those guys that are at the bottom of the order are struggling and it's musical chairs. Lada, Brandon, Willis, Rincones. All under .180 and all over 25 at bats. Lada, Willis and Brandon were all .250 to .270 last year. It will come around for at least one of them soon.

Get one of them going and get Marusak back (hopefully) and the lineup will be as solid as its been in quite a while

The fortunate thing with Marusak’s injury is its allowed Hood and Viellion to get going a little. That will lengthen the lineup some. If we can get a little production from second base that will make the lineup solid. Then everyone will be able to settle into a role.

What is the word on Marusak? When might he be back, he was fun to watch early in the season.
