New Improvements are coming to Louisiana. That's what Governor Bobby Jindal is promising as session kicks off Monday. The Governor stated in a press conference earlier this week that his number on priority for the state, in this session is jobs. Louisiana's job picture has been steadily improving since the first of the year, and the governor says he plans to keep it that way.
The Governor and lawmakers alike have agendas to keep and bills to pass. Jindal says he will propose legislation forbidding Louisiana tax payer dollars from being used to pay for elective abortion within the state. Jindal says that's been a major concern for many conservatives.
The governor says he plans to create new jobs by creating new businesses. "We're not going down the DC route, we're not raising taxes, we're not borrowing money. Instead we're going to do more with less and continue to create more jobs for our people."
In addition to jobs, another major concern going into this session is the budget. The Governor says cuts are essential for Louisiana's success. "We've had three years of people moving into Louisiana more quickly than their leaving. That's the Louisiana way; creating more jobs, good paying jobs for our people, not raising taxes and I made a commitment as long as I am governor we're not raising taxes in Louisiana."
