Thread: SB G1: Louisiana 0, LSU 4

I forgot we had a game tonight. Apparently, I didn't miss anything. This sucks. If there was anything we knew we could count on for most of the last 30 plus years, it was softball...

Only 3 brought in this year. Two start.

And the home plate ump was absolutely terrible.

In all those games combined, the major damage came in only 4 very crooked innings.

Take away those 4 innings and Louisiana was outscored 2-1

I have to disagree. Maybe you weren't watching the same game I was. I thought the umph was fair.

I wasn't the only one, many others agreed. The A&M catcher was even laughing at him after a very low pitch was called a strike.

This is the excuse UL fans use every time when we play LSU. I thought the home plate blue was inconsistent but he was inconsistent for both teams. It wasn't the umpires fault UL lost. The fact of the matter is that UL is not very good team, at least against teams of better quality hitting and pitching. UL left 8 runners on base last night and couldn't get a timely hit to bring in any of those stranded runners. Sunseri is a good pitcher but she is no Montana Fouts. UL should have been able to hit her. LSU had 2 errors and UL couldn't capitalize on that. Mayeaux isn't a catcher and it showed last night with her misjudging balls and them hitting the tip of her glove and getting by her. I find it hard to believe that Glasco didn't recruit a 2nd catcher after Adams transferred out. He likes to use the portal but didn't use it for a critical position like this? Kean dropping that pop up and then sno-coning the next pop up was almost comical. La. Tech is no slouch. They scored 3 against Bama. Hopefully, Glasco figures out a way to heat up UL's bats and gets them working tomorrow against LSU. I was impressed with the start Landry had. She has a nasty change up that works nicely off of 68 mph heater. I wonder how much her getting drilled by that hit from Clark affected her. She was pitching really well until that moment and then seemed to lose her control after. Schorman was pretty solid in relief. I am not going to talk about Lamb because there is nothing to say.

Inconsistent for both teams is not good, means your a bad umpire. I hate that argument. I'm glad we have someone here who knows everything about Louisiana.

It just means that neither team had an advantage if he was horrible for both teams. I do feel for hitters when the umpire is inconsistent because they don't know what to take or what to swing at. So they swing at pitches that they normally would take or don't feel comfortable swinging at just so they don't get rung up. I will say that it does appear that UL's hitters are behind the better pitching they have faced so far this year.

Unless it is something supporters of both teams objectively agrees is a bad call, it probably was a good call. Key word objectively.

Saints v Rams PI a few years back...bad call, universal consensus agreement.

    Any call last night, meh.

If anything has hurt teams was the extra year of eligibility due to covid combined with the portal. If you were good before covid, many teams stayed pat, while those who needed help the portal was their gold mine and caught up.
