Deggs is about second chance kids. He thrives on that because of his own personal situation i would imagine. If he considered giving Bobby a second chance AND the kid has done everything he has been asked to do i am perfectly fine with that. Im sure all of us would take back a poor decision or two we have made at 22 years old. And if this makes Bobby a better man in life im all for it. Good for both of them for working this out. Sometimes a kid needs to be grabbed by the shirt collar to open his eyes big enough to see the real picture and then they GET it
I will be shocked if Deggs adjusts much, maybe Seth can help in that regard. Deggs reminds me of Bob Knight, in that he is very certain in what he is doing and how he wants it done. He isn't nearly as good of a coach as Knight, but has very similar qualities. When the success stopped, it all came tumbling down.
The pool of kids (and parents) that want to be coached hard is dwindling fast, so the available talent to recruit here and build a quality team is small. I really want Coach Deggs to succeed, but it is going to be very difficult long term, IMO.
I’m not here to interject much into the conversation. People have their opinions and I’m not going to waste too much of my time trying to change anyone’s mind. I would just like to pin this thread and revisit in a couple of years. My prediction (and this is just my opinion…again not here to debate), this conversation will sound much different after a super regional appearance or two
Brenn Conrad was here sent to JC then came back and started 63 games. Im not going to do it but if you study every college baseball rosters in America there are several brenn Conrad’s.
And next year at this time with no injury we’ll be talking about another who is now committed.
