And yet he did change the culture and the roster. And a lot of players and parents were angry. The ones that remained were pretty happy eventually though.

Bobby's mother called Deggs and after a long discussion Deggs decided to invite him back and Bobby has apparently been a model citizen since.

Deggs is about second chance kids. He thrives on that because of his own personal situation i would imagine. If he considered giving Bobby a second chance AND the kid has done everything he has been asked to do i am perfectly fine with that. Im sure all of us would take back a poor decision or two we have made at 22 years old. And if this makes Bobby a better man in life im all for it. Good for both of them for working this out. Sometimes a kid needs to be grabbed by the shirt collar to open his eyes big enough to see the real picture and then they GET it

There are plenty of programs around the country that are finding success doing just that.

It’s still early. 2022 has its own story to tell. But patterns are developing in year 3 that can’t be ignored.
I will be shocked if Deggs adjusts much, maybe Seth can help in that regard. Deggs reminds me of Bob Knight, in that he is very certain in what he is doing and how he wants it done. He isn't nearly as good of a coach as Knight, but has very similar qualities. When the success stopped, it all came tumbling down.

The pool of kids (and parents) that want to be coached hard is dwindling fast, so the available talent to recruit here and build a quality team is small. I really want Coach Deggs to succeed, but it is going to be very difficult long term, IMO.

I’m not here to interject much into the conversation. People have their opinions and I’m not going to waste too much of my time trying to change anyone’s mind. I would just like to pin this thread and revisit in a couple of years. My prediction (and this is just my opinion…again not here to debate), this conversation will sound much different after a super regional appearance or two

SMFH. Parents calling college coaches to "help" is just bizarre. I never had to do it and never would.

Correct about the kids and parents. It’s at all levels just ask Seth’s brother.

Brenn Conrad was here sent to JC then came back and started 63 games. Im not going to do it but if you study every college baseball rosters in America there are several brenn Conrad’s.

And next year at this time with no injury we’ll be talking about another who is now committed.

Heard it straight out of Robe's mouth many years ago. It's real..... I know you didn't do it but there were some even in your time frame who did.....

I'm not doing it either because we both know it's a waste of time. Better chance finding a unicorn at the Horse Farm.

I guess if it goes badly again, new kid's mom can call Deggs and fix it.

They couldn't pay me enough to deal with that brain damage.
