Thread: UL Needs

    Default UL Needs

I hope he hires some guys with good connections in Louisiana, we have a lot of home town talent right here. Those kids bring in more fans and family members. Three off the top of my head would be Donovan William - 25 ppg, 6'2" PG/2G, Cecilia HS, Jacoby Colbert - 18ppg, 6'2" slasher and jump shooter, Westgate HS, Xaiver Blackburn - 17ppg, 6'3" GF, knows how to play big and rebound. Those three guys will bring in a 1000 fans by themselves every home game.

Jacoby Colbert is considered the best senior prospect in the area, as per college assistants and AAU coaches I've spoken too about local talent. The other two might be better off attending junior college for several years.

I don't see the backcourt as a major need if the two early signees come in; the Cajuns are in need of front court help with the final scholarships.

Ull need front court players. All those you just mentioned are guards. I understand the two recruits we have committed are also guards. That leaves us only Baptiste and Mitchell on the boards. We hope Gary gets to play. He has shooters in Grandigo, Daigle and Bureau. I expect him to love the defense and ball controll Andrews will give him. We have got to get help on the boards. Getting more guards is not what we need right now.

We need another backcourt, Daigle is done after this coming year, Andrews is only a sophomore, and the two kids from Florida, will probably not be coming. Those three kids would be great signs for the cajuns. Blackburn lead the allstar game in scoring. Bring in the local talent, and bring in more fans!!!

THose big guys are the one or two players you may have to get to go out of state to get. But if you take the Corey Lewis', the Colby Bargeman's, you get the Perry Stevenson's. If you take the Jacoby COlbert's, the Dovovan William's, you have a better chacne of getting the next Kelvin Price the next Chris Manuel, or the the next Carrol Twins. You have got to sign the local talent first. Then go out and mix in your Orien Green's, your Cedrick William's, your Tiras Wade's, your Mike Southall's.

I think you added an extra 0 to your number. If each of these guys could bring 300+ fans we should add them asap. Agree with everyone else...we need frontcourt players.

THere was close to 2000 fans at every home game that watched those three guys play, I would think 30% of those fans would follow those players to the Cajundome.

I talked to a guy yesterday that said, the whole St. Martin Parish will follow the WIlliams kid and watch him play.

By your logic, we will need more big men than you think. Batiste is also gone after this year which would leave us with 1 post player after that. We need at least 2-3 frontcourt guys. We have an infusion of SG and SF players coming in next year. What truly leads you to believe that they are not coming? Neither has stated as such and both have said they would wait and see who was hired before coming. The three players you mentioned would be welcomed here and would be solid players but we have other needs as of right now and I don't think you can say that they would bring 1,000 fans per home game. We have local guys right now like Gary, Daigle and Batiste and our attendance has obviously not gone up. I don't buy the local players will bring more fans thing. Good teams and wins will bring more fans...Period..

Wrong. You sign the best players you can get especially when they fill a need first. We don't need to go after anybody just because they are local. Now, if they are really nice talents and could play for larger schools, obviously you go and try to do what you can do to get them. However, I don't value a local guy higher than someone else if that someone else is a better fit and talent

Daigle is the only one that played for a HS team that had a large following, but your local guys will keep the fans there

Not just any players, read the stat lines on them. Williams MVP of his District. Colbert MVP of his District. I not saying any player, but the good ones that reside right here in Acadiana
