Thread: Baseball RPI strategy

    Poll Baseball RPI strategy

If Sunbelt is a 1, at very best 2 bid conference in baseball......ONCE CONF PLAY STARTS why not inverse your weekday vs weekend pitching logic at least a little?????

Absolutely must have quality rpi wins to sniff a 2nd bid. Sad to say but our best RPI games last 2-3 years aren't on conf game weekends they are on weekdays. If the weekday games are your best chance to get a 2nd chance ticket to the 64......why not reserve any weekend starters for your best rpi opportunities on weekdays???

You still have your best pitching 100% available for tournament bid.

Bottom line..... if you can't beat conf rpi 50-250 ranked teams with remaining staff you ain't going anywhere anyway. So go all out to win the games that matter the most.

    My thought for the day

Seeding in the tournament is very important to save on pitching.

Because of the fallacy that “week day games don’t matter”

That’s just an excuse that the East uses when they lose to us.

Weekday games matter much more to us than LSU. They get all the quality opponents and strength of schedule they need in the SEC weekends. The SunBelt however does not provide us that same quality, so midweeks do matter more for us if we plan to get an at-large bid.

What matters is our winning %, our opponents winning % and our opponents' opponents winning %.

That's it. We need to win and we need opponents to win, except when they play us.

OOC we need everyone in the SBC winning, regardless of sport. Loses to Sanford (sweep), Kent State, S. Illinois and Tennessee Tech this weekend hurts us all. Wasn’t a great weekend.

Yikes. The Cajuns certainly had the most impressive weekend in the conference.

Fugly....... Not a good weekend at all for most in belt.....our best rpi games will be on Tues/Wed again this spring once Conf play starts.

The conference pretty much validated your point this weekend.

Round Rock, the Southern Miss series, Houston (although they went 0-3 in Scottsdale,) and games vs. Neck, SLU and the East will be big. Basically, we need to make the most of February and March.
