Most of the administrators have checked out. SBC administration has made it abundantly clear we’re a football league. Jettisoning LR and UTA should make that obvious. Conference should of played favorites when each of those had their runs to pull others along.
If that's true keep Marlin and cut his salary to 100k a year. Invest the extra 500k in other sports.

That might be the plan…lol. Or hire a guy on the downside of time like Cliff Ellis.

They have cut his budget substantially already.

I would be ok with that since I know where we stand with basketball. As the highest paid coach in the belt that Is currently not the case.

Here is the guy that I would like to see as our next Head Coach. This is his salary at Nicholls.

Nicholls State University approved a contract extension for Austin Claunch on Oct. 22, 2020. It extends his contract through April 30, 2024.

Claunch's base salary is $130,000 with an annual vehicle allowance of $4,200.

Some of the bonuses that the extension includes are a $10,000 bonus for winning the Southland Conference Tournament, $5,000 bonus for winning a conference regular-season championship, $5,000 per NCAA Tournament victory, and $2,500 for winning Southland Conference Coach of the Year.

The contract includes a $65,000 buyout if Claunch leaves Nicholls State for another program.

His previous contract at Nicholls State paid a base salary of $95,000 and went through March 28, 2022.

Just throwing this out there looking forward.

Marlin is the second oldest coach (62) in the conference, of course CCU's Ellis is the oldest at 76. Keith Richard at ULM follows at 61.

Then UTA's Young and Walker at LR come in at 57.
    Lanier at GAST is 53.
    Cross at Troy is 47.
    Balado at stAte is 46.
Johnson at Texas State is 42-43 (Wikipedia has as birth year 79-80).
    Riley at USA is 39.
    Ga Southern's Burg is 34.
Kerns at App is 34ish (based on graduation from college, can't find date).

So the top five teams all have head coaches under 48 (42-43, 34, 47, 39, 46) . Would be the direction I'd suspect Maggard would go IF a change is made. I'd bet under 40.

Bottom five, starting with CCU in 8th...76, 62, 61, 34, 57. Coincidence? Honestly don't know.

    It's definitely a young man's game.

Someone on twitter mentioned Alvin Brooks III the more I research him the more I like

His dad played for Lamar in the late 70s as well as coached there in the early 80s

Greg Williams jr also cannot transfer without sitting out a year.

I’m not like some. I believe that we can have an outstanding program getting into the round of 32 more than every 3 decades.

We need to be judicious in our selection.
