I have no idea who told you that was why we hired Dez, but:

1. 100% guarantee if we hired outside we would have more new coaches now than we do. I don't know if that's better or worse, but it's a fact.

2. Have we lost more than the average amount of players to the portal? I really have no idea, but I sure see a lot of guys in the portal for a lot of schools, I'm not sure which coach we could have hired to make us some kind of outlier. Do you have some inside information that suggests that any of the guys who left for P5 spots would have stayed had we just hired somebody else?

I don't get your line of commentary at all. Maggard didn't hire Dez because he was going to magically keep coaches from leaving for "better" positions, or be able to stop every single player from leaving for more money at a P5 school. He hired him because he thought he was the best person to keep the culture going (and winning)....Maggard's future is directly tied to how well this hire goes, I'm assuming he made his choice based on that fact.

And why are we bringing Corey Raymond into this? He was already at LSU his alma mater and his only college stop until now. The only reason he is not still at LSU is because the new coach let him go. Totally different situation.

I was referring to guy like Juluke who are in high demand because of their high school connections. Each one of them get offers constantly. I know for fact Texas Tech had begged Juluke to come back every year. Stayed here knowing he would get back into the SEC with Napier.
