I have been pushing for a 16 team playoff all inclusive of all 10 Div. 1 conferences for 20+ years but don't see it ever happening as long as the P5 schools have the leverage. In my opinion, there has NEVER been a true national champion in Div. 1 football because the teams that have been picked to play in the national championship game has ALWAYS been subjective. If it can be done in every other NCAA sport (basketball, baseball, softball, Div II and III football, tiddly winks...), then it could be done in Div. I. But this will never happen as long as the P5 schools have the NCAA wrapped around their ....

I love #4. I think get rid of all bowl games except for the 15 bowl games that would host the playoffs.

#1 is also a great thought. Standardized payment across the board, P5 to G5. I like #9 also, but will never happen because the P5's love to hoard players, though the transfer portal is making a difference in this.

Great thoughts, some of which I had thought of.

This only works if there is a relegation/promotion system in place. Each P5 is associated with a G5 conference. The ____tiest P5 team is relegated and the best G5 gets promoted. This could solve some budging issues as an AD might reconsider his spending if his TV payouts go way down in relegation.

The Vanderbilts and KUs of the world are not going anywhere. They leverage their baseball and basketball units very well.

First and foremost, this would do absolutely nothing to stop the negative effects of NIL & the transfer portal on G5 Schools. It doesn't matter if the G5 makes a "no transfer" rule if the P5 NCAA keeps its current policy. Players will just say "cool, good thing I'm not in your league anymore" as they sign with their new P5 NCAA team. It also won't stop those same kids from being lured away from G5s with P5 NIL deals. And it won't even prevent G5 NIL deals. The NCAA didn't want NIL to happen. They had to let it happen for antitrust reasons. And so would a G5 league.

Second, we'd lose a lot of money by doing this. The going rate for P5 money games these days is something like $1.5-2 million. We get another $1.8 million/yr from the CFP. And we'd almost certainly lose TV revenue as well. ESPN won't want to give us $2 million/yr if the product we are giving them is minor league college football instead of top 25 major college football.

I guess what I'm saying is you just need to bend over and take it like a man. The less you try to fight it the less it ends up hurting.

We've already like stupid lemmings; fell into the "mid-major" crap that basketball has become.

"Oh, we're ranked #3 in the mid major poll" a few years back and some people lapped that up like a dog returning to its vomit.
We have fell into the G5 trap. This G5 label only came about when they grouped us G5 conferences together when they dangled that NY6 automatic qualifier for top G5 conference champion. While it is nice to have they are constantly moving the sticks. Cincy made the playoff and they took that G5 NY6 bowl away from us this year.
There was no so called G5 and P5 before the CFP. We should be demanding at least one automatic qualifier for the CFP when if and when it expands to 12 teams. We should also be demanding that G5's still have a shot at an at large as well.

Why dont we put the press box on the visitors side when we redo the stadium? Just suites on the home side.

P5 conferences really don't want to include G5 in the subjective playoff system, yet they want to continue to play the G5 universities to pad their win totals, though that doesn't always work to their favor. But even when a G5 university beats a P5 university, it doesn't do anything to help the G5 move up in the rankings, only lower the P5 rankings.

    Solution:
There are five G5 conferences and five P5 conferences. Starting immediately, P5 schools can only schedule P5 schools, no longer can they they include a G5 school or lesser on their schedule. Let them fight amongst themselves and they can make up how they decide their champion at the end of the season.

G5 universities can only play G5 universities. But at the end of the season, have a true playoff system. Take the 5 conference champs with 5 at large bids decided by ranking and have a true G5 champion. Take away all bowl games.

NIL wouldn't hurt the G5's as much, nor the transfer portal. NCAA and the P5's would totally revamp how they consider the G5 universities. P5 universities would come crawling back and change the entire playoff system.

Just my thought and 2 cents.
That would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face. You giving up millions of dollars in money games. And G5s would still become like a ju co system for the P5s, so now you're getting scr___ed out of paydays and players.

We’re at the proverbial line in the sand as far as antitrust considerations. As long as “G5” hangs around, the wolves are held at bay. The moment the lemmings WILLINGLY VOTE to go over the cliff and declare they want their own G5 championship, it’s over.

In the meantime the G5 leagues will slowly all become one bid leagues in every non football sport.

The league movement this past fall was no fluke. It’s just a matter of time until the P5 becomes the P4.

We need to hold our ground, just like we did when the 1-A 1-AA split happened.

G5's would learn to budget without.

    1) make sure our product is vastly better than FCS and don’t play any FCS
    2) student/athletes contract must be repaid if broken
    3) ESPN runs the present show. Make a deal with whoever wants to compete with them.
    4) March madness our 32 on one channel and their 32 on another
    5) you need to build a new and better mouse trap. There can be NO Vanderbilt or ULM. The Network will have to help sell the product. Not G5, “American College Championship Association “

Yeah that #3 would be our collective death.

Ask CUSA how that approached magnified their product.
