Abbeville - Champagne thrilled by his victory in Kaplan

KAPLAN –_Kaplan has a new mayor and his name is Kirk Champagne, the city’s present councilman-at-large.
Champagne beat J.J. Landry 873 votes to 649 votes on Saturday.
He will be sworn in as mayor in July.
“I am truly humbled that my vision of becoming Mayor of Kaplan has turned into reality,” Champagne said. “For this, I have to give credit to my team of supporters. My victory was because of a total community effort.
