I hope this isn’t another one of those years where we hear how great the fall was and how we are going to crush the ball, only to get let down.
Think the ceiling for this club offensively is a lot higher. Where we settle, I have no idea.
But, I did just get some pretty damn bad news for our bullpen. I'll let the team break the news but I'm disappointed, to say the least. Still, we have some major depth on paper, from a reliever standpoint.
I know he is not with the team anymore, but what was the story with Will Pendergrass the transfer from Houston that was expected to play 3rd Base for the Cajuns. I thought they had high expectations for him and he had performed well in the Fall.
This team is pretty deep hitting wise. When you think that Jonathan Brandon who hit .247 in 89 AB's last season will be on the bench, as well as CJ Willis who hit .250 in 128 AB's last season and Brandon Talley who only hit .194 in 31 AB's but started to show what he could do late in the season. Not to mention Will Veillon and some of the other new players on this team.
It appears that Conner Kimple will be the 4th outfielder and he and some of the above names will play DH for the Cajuns.
Trey Lafleur and Warnner Rincones could be interesting names to watch for as well.
1st Base Carson Roccoforte backup Brandon Talley
2nd Base Bobby Lada backup Jonathan Brandon or Will Veillon
SS Kyle Debarge backup CJ Willis
3rd Base Tyler Robertson
Catcher Julien Brock
OF Conner Higgs backup Will Veillon
OF Heath Hood backup Conner Kimple
OF Max Marusak
DH Conner Kimple
Thoughts about the above lineup
Pretty accurate from my view. Look for Mason Zambo to get some reps at 1st. The backup at short won't be CJ. I expect CJ to DH when the lineup dictates and play some infield as well. Higgs is your bopper, will keep his spot in the lineup as long as he's producing. Everything else is interchangeable. From a talent standpoint, we're a complete makeover. Lots of options.
