Nothing will change. The P5 will continue to get the 4 and 5 stars from high school recruiting.
Now, a system has been put in place for them to get the 2 and 3 stars out of high school that were either not properly rated or have upped their game and have demonstrated once in college that they are now really 4 or 5 star players.
With the combination of no longer having to sit our for a year and the ability to pay NIL, the P5 will eventually have virtually all of the 4 and 5 stars. It is what they want and it is what they will have.
People can belly ache here and anywhere but this will not change. There will be no rules and there will be no changes. The P5 gets what the P5 wants and the system that has been set up with the transfer without sitting out and NIL payments is what they want.
The PORTAL is nothing more than a system to implement the plan. Because it implements the plan that the P5 wants, it will also continue as is. Des has it right, those left in the portal after the P5 have picked it over are probably trouble and he does not need trouble.
Our success will be in the ability to recruit 2 and 3’s who are either really 4’s or have the ability to be coached up to be a 3, 4 or even a 5 . . . the hidden jewels . . . like those that have transferred out this year. The only difference is that Des will not have a couple years like Napier had to get and develop these kids with the required 1 year sit out as Napier had the first couple of years. Once our players show that they are really 4’s and or 5’s, they will be gone the next year to get their money and fame at the P5 level.
If we set up some NIL, we will be able to keep these type kids on the bottom end of the spectrum, however the key to success will be identifying and recruiting enough high 2’s and 3’s out of high school that are really diamonds in the rough or mis-classed. We will need to find even more of them to be as successful because we will lose them for year 2 and 3 now under the current system. In other words, because of this new system, we will have to work harder to be successful.
