I visited with Coach Robe on more than one occasion and he said that the best thing that could happen for the Baseball program was the Football program being successful! He knew that Football drives the bus and the more successful Football is, the better chance Baseball had to be be successful with an increased budget, exposure, etc. He understood the BIG picture.

Of course it does, not sure exactly what that has to do with a bunch of baseball fans funding a new locker room. From where I sit there is also a case to be made that it isn’t true here. We have heard for decades, if the Cajuns are good I’d go, if the Cajuns were big time I’d go. Well, 2 years in the top 25 and that looks like a lie. In fact, it got us in debt doing so. Football has a very very very long way to go financially before it starts building $6 million dollar player facilities for baseball. The baseball program will get it done and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, people should be happy that baseball and softball pull their own weight around here, most schools don’t and they take from football.

The good news is at some point during the stadium construction the old maintenance building at the corner of Reinhardt will disappear

Does anyone know when UL will go to the public to try and generate funds or is the plan just to go after corporate donations/sponsorship? The general public has no clue after this project.

I am a huge Cajun fan and have had season tickets for Football, Baseball and Basketball (other than last year for Basketball). So I wasn’t trying to say anything regarding your comments. Just the fact that regardless of what any of us baseball fans think, the better football does, the better chance all other UL sports teams will have. Granted, football does not currently generate the revenue it should, but hopefully that is what the renovations to Cajun Field will help in that regard. Again, Coach Robe knew and saw the big picture.
I applaud any fans contributing to the baseball locker room also. That is also an obvious need for Coach Deggs and the baseball program.

I believe this football season will be better than most think. We might have a 9-10 win season. The cards are in place. No one knew what to expect last year. Hell I was shocked we made a bowl and almost won it.

Stick with one QB. All 3 can start. Running game will be bad ass with much improved OL and Defense should be pretty stout as it has been for the last few years.

That is correct. Will allow for more prime tailgating spots thus generating more $$$. That’s why we will have only suite and club seating in the upper deck. A good move financially.

……What we need is the Parish to go along and pass a 6 month sales tax for the stadium. (Like the airport was funded)…step up by the people of the community to back their university……also have the legislature put some funds (race track/casino) that was used to build the stadium to now put some monies up for repairs….at least try it!
