Whose job is it to get our budget higher? Is that not Maggard’s responsibility? He oversees the RCAF. He oversees every aspect of the athletic program. We keep complaining about the same things for the last several years with no improvement…..if he truly has no power to run the department, fire him and save $400k per year.

You think that is his pay? It doesn’t matter if he gets the budget hire if they take money from sports to bring over to the academic side.

If you want more money raised, then start by donating more money and direct it to where you want it spent. Maggard has had to survive coming off of two covid years of reduced revenues and having to reduce his budget. No different than many other G5 programs with shrinking economies outside of Texas, Florida, Georgia and a few other states.

I've always said if you want to grow athletics further, then they would have to stop beating the same RCAF top donors to death and raise corporate money. The fact that they have been able to raise corporate money for the stadium in this environment has been surprising. We've had two top notch ADs in my lifetime, Terry Don Phillips and Bryan Maggard. When he's gone, fans are going to wish he was still here. He's not perfect, but given the Culture he has had to deal with in Martin Hall, he's accomplished more than any of his predecessors. People have a short memory of all the dysfunctional and unqualified people that have run the UL athletic department over the years.

Same here. Between those two gentlemen, nobody has come close.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It all comes down to control. TDP and BM were exactly the men we needed at a certain point in time. The problem they had to overcome was two fold.

    1) An administration that had not a clue how to wholly trust them

    2) An administration hell bent on control, especially when the money was rolling in. Hence, never giving up autonomy for RCAF.

I hope “The Current” after they finish with LCG’s hole digging ventures tackles the Cajundome vendor contract. Not a fan of their politics but Ms Turk and company can research like crazy.

Fundraising for the stadium redo can't be afraid to pick up pennies, i.e. smaller fundraising in addition to the corporate fundraising. Why not sell personalized bricks at 'new' OLOL Cajun Field like at main campus? A number of things could be initiated to put more funds in the bucket.

every student gets a brick on campus, only time you might buy a brick is if you want one for your home

People donated $100 to the baseball stadium renovation, and their names are on a plaque inside the stadium. Yet for some reason with this evidence in our face 30+ times a year walking into the Tigue our top paid officials either haven't thought of it or are too scared to ask. Next excuse on why this won't work...
