Just a no contest. No team should benefit or suffer for things beyond their control.
The rule to remove teams from the seeding process if they miss three games where they were available to play and the cancellation was because of the other teams Covid issues is a rather harsh remedy . . . A team should not be penalized for non-play resulting from another teams issues.
Agreed. It's a terrible policy. I can see some shenanigans happening at the end of the schedule.
For instance, imagine the Cajuns in 1st place with one game to play, but have 3 games cancelled to Covid and the team they are playing has 2. They can pull a Covid Carolina and force the Cajuns to play extra games in the tournament and potentially take away the NIT guarantee.
Thought new protocol was only 5 days, so if they tested positive Monday, they would be good to go Saturday
If not, you could have your team available to play every game and still get dropped from the W/L race because everyone else didn't do their part. That would really be unfair
